EventFUTURES. Photography on the Verge

FUTURES. Photography on the Verge

Description

CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia offers insight into emerging photographic research with the exhibition On The Verge and the FUTURES Annual Event: two activities that form part of the annual programme of the only European research platform on contemporary photography – FUTURES Photography. Supported by the European Union, the project foresees the cooperation of CAMERA (the only Italian organisation present) with 20 other museums and festivals from across Europe. On display in CAMERA’s Project Room, Alice Pallot, Cian Burke, Daniel Szalai, Julia Klewaniec, Mark Duffy, Pauline Hisbacq and Ugo Woatzi investigate the idea of the ‘verge’ in the present day: from gender issues to the rise of populism, and from food sustainability to ecological matters.

Research, reflection, and exchange are central to the FUTURES Annual Event: 100 artists and 20 curators participate in workshops (in collaboration with Gallerie di Italia), interviews and networking activities, along with mentors such as Laia Abril (artist, Spain), Tayio Onorato and Nico Krebs (artists, Switzerland), and Max Pinckers (artist, Belgium), and curators Julija Reklaitė (Lithuania, director of Rupert) and Krzysztof Candrowicz (Poland, curator of CICLO Bienal, Portugal).

Speakers:  WALTER GUADAGNINI (Director of CAMERA), GIANGAVINO PAZZOLA (Curator of CAMERA and FUTURES coordinator), GUIDO BOLATTO (General secretary of the Turin Chamber of Commerce), IRENE FENARA (Photographer and artist), SALVATORE VITALE (Artistic director of FUTURES)
